is a great amp(s). I have the CAM-200's mated with Tannoy D700's. They produce very nice music together.
Follow Ups:
Far from "thick sounding"! And with the right power cords(not the stock ones or even the upgraded Cardas crap offerings) they can sing sing sing...Light and airy as could be as notes hang in space, not to mention the mid-range soul of good tube amps with a bottom end weight they can only dream of.To bad they stopped making the 200/350-CAM series; seems like Classe has lost their way since they hooked up with B&W.
I was somewhat impressed with the Classe CA-100 / 200 / 300 and the Classe 10 - all of which I've owned over the years. They were very good amps but not "great", compared to some others I've tried.I've never tried the Classe CAM mono amps. Have you compared the CAMs to their stereo amps? What do you think?
I've never owned any of their stereo amps(so I have no long term reference) but have heard the 10 and the 15, to which I liked the 10 better. Ultimately both seemed a little dull(or darker?) sounding than my then reference points which were tube amps, a stereo Berning 100, then a Melos 202Gold stereo amp, and then later on to a set of Wolcott 220 monos which I had for a while. Unfortunately the 10&15 seemed to be in a whole different level when compared to my CAM series but then again the price was quite a bit higher as well. But all my thinking re high powered tube amps changed when I first heard the CAM-350s. They seemed to give me the best of both worlds and no hassle of tubes(especially high-powered amps(tube) which could be precarious at times).
I would agree that the CA-100 / 200 / 300 were a little dull compared to some tube amps I've owned but I've never tried the CAMs. It's interesting to read a "tube guys" comments on the CAMs. Thanks.
