I'm moving to a new rack system within the next year. Should I leave my V5Xe in the rack or move it off the rack and onto it's own stand (SRA Ohio class XL)? and if I move it off... should I get the stand and move the amp first (which I can do right away) or upgrade the rack first then move the amp later (which means a long wait)?Everything is already on a 'decent' rack (polycrystal UHD) but I want to upgrade from 'decent' to 'outstanding' and get an SRA craz.. so if I do move the amp but get the rack first... it will have to be built to accomodate the amp and space for cooling.
Follow Ups:
I have the non-evo unit and its a sizable lump to have on the main rack with the source kit.
Mine also chucks out quite a bit of heat when running for a few hours so requires quite a bit of room above. It resides on another stand to one side of the main source rack.
For 2 reasons: vibrations and EMF.my amps put out a field about 3' around, worse on 1 side to to transformer leakage.
Try setting the amp somewhere else, maybe even on the floor. nasty vibes from your amp won't bother your sources that way.
my 2 cents, big sonic upgrade by controlling the where & when of vibrations...and making sure the ones hitting your ears sound good!!
"my amps put out a field about 3' around, worse on 1 side to to transformer leakage."How can I measure this in my setup?
Search the net for an EMF detector. i don't own one, but have used a freinds. he can show excatly how unshielded interconnects leak out signal compared to shileded ones, etc, etc. its essentially a thick pen with a light on the end that goes on when fields are near. maybe Radio Shack sells them??warning, if you get one you'll want to keep each of piece of gear well away from the others...it creates a bit of nervosa! really cool for EMF sensitive gear & cables, like for phono.
