What are they worth?
How long was the wait?
Follow Ups:
As they are built on a custom order basis, the wait is anywhere
from 3 to 6 months depending on order backlog.Price? Well, let's just say they're in the obnoxious range.
I sold off two sets of amps and saved for a year to buy them.
I'm glad I did- it's a year later now and I'd have been a year
older anyway, but now I have some sweet amps. Now I'm on
a quest to upgrade speakers. that'll probably be another year...
Upgrade from the Avalon Eclipse? I'm afraid it could be a very short and rather expensive list. How much are you looking to spend, and what is the minimum impedance you amplifier will drive continuously?
I'm pretty well sold on upgrading in the Avalon line.
Yes, the next step will be expensive. Eidolons minimum.
The Eclipse Classics suprised me yesterday with deeper extension
than I've heard before, and a rather weighty presentation. Alas,
my room is a bit too big for the Eclipses at about 3400 cubic feet.
It just works the speakers a bit harder than I'm comfortable with.
I certainly don't want to abuse any speakers I may sell to another lucky owner. The amps have quite a bit of headroom and can do 4ohm, but being OTL's
they will appreciate an even impedance load so as not to have
any frequencies stick out. Available power does not seem to be a problem so far.
Dynamic and fast with clear delineation and placement even when the music is busy
and complicated. Quite a trick for any amp.
