Many people are particularly upset when a newer cheaper product is better than the previous 'flagship'.<<People who treat hobby products as "investments" are going to suffer (well-deserved) disappointment.
People who view consumer electronics as anything but quickly-obsoleted depreciable goods are first-class idiots.
Follow Ups:
Racerguy - I know you're incapable of writing a thread without childish derogatory name calling, as many of your threads here show, but try to stretch your imagination regarding the word 'invest' or better, look it up in the dictionary. People 'invest' time, effort, and as well as money in hobbies, sports, exercise, and other human endeavors. I don't think anyone here really expects the value of their ARC product to increase, like a stock fund, after they buy it. I would imagine, however, that for most people who have purchased the REF 3, it was not a quick casual purchase with loose change, and yes, they do view it as an some kind of investment....... in happiness.... or whatever you would call it. Get it?
rgurney - I know you're wrapped so tight that if I so much as glance in your general direction you start ranting uncontrollably (a situation I find quite sad), but perhaps YOU should look up the word "invest" in a dictionary. Just FYI, I do not "invest" in my hobbies, I ENJOY them. Otherwise they would not be worth pursuing. Stressing out or becoming bitter over purchase choices doesn't seem to be a good way to enjoy a hobby.Your "investment" in the audio hobby obviously causes you much pain and unhappiness, which is the opposite of what should happen. You have repeatedly stated that the release of new products by manufacturers causes you great upset, which is a very strange reaction to a standard business practice. This reaction seems to lead you to impotent rage, feelings of persecution, and other unseemly behaviors. Perhaps you should find another hobby that causes less stress in your life. Such derangement can only bring you to grief.
Best wishes for your recovery,
Racerguy - Glance in my direction!? You jumped into the thread feeling it necessary to define the correct definition of the word 'invest' and to refer to some people as idiots. I'm wrapped tightly?? You project and assume quite well.
I do not own any ARC equipment as you do. In the past, you have rushed in to bash those who would criticize ARC policy. Check your own threads. I am surprised you said nothing about the initiator of the thread I responded to, BRF, instead choosing to focus on one word I used - "invest". In his thread, BRF criticized ARC's policy of frequent upgrades, a subject you have rushed to defend before in your inimitable way of calling people different childish names. My response to BRF's thread was basically what you have said in the past - if you don't like ARC's policies, buy something else and don't complain. Obviously I don't care if manufacturers release new products as they should. Your choice of words - "impotent rage, feelings of persecution, and other unseemly behaviors.." seems to be a self description. Read your past threads, if you are not sure.
I am glad you don't 'invest' any time or effort in your hobby. You certainly like to 'spend' alot of time telling others how to think.
Alas - I see that your obsessive focus on "investing" in a hobby isn't your only issue. You have a faulty memory as well - or perhaps you have chosen to resolve your cognitive dissonance by blocking things out. You seem to have forgotten your own words. You also seem to have a burning need to ascribe to me certain things I have not written, in order to keep up your self-deception.
