Can't find anything using the search. Lots of talk but does anyone actually have one? I've got a Prologue One and love it. I added a phono card and upgraded the caps to Mundord silver/oil and Teflon V-caps. Incredible change for the better. I'm now wondering how much better the Dialogue series can be. Can anyone comment on the differences between the Prologue and Dialogue. Does anyone have a preference between the ultra linear and triode mode on the Dialogue?
Follow Ups:
I was going to swap the metal oxide resistors that are used throughout with Vishay Dale metal film ... but it's starting to look like more trouble than it's worth. I believe the caps make a bigger difference.
Sorry I have not heard the Dialogues but I just recently purchased Cayin 860 monoblocs and really enjoy them. Looking at the interior photos available online, they must be made at the same factory as the Primaluna. Look very similar and share a number of same generic parts.
While I think the basic Cayin package is reasonable, especially the transformers, I'm interested in upgrading some of the generic knock off parts (ie "realcaps") to extract all the latent potential.Did you just upgrade the realcaps? others? Like for like values, or any changes. Did you locate a schematic for these? I've done a few google searches but nothing came up.
Also interested in some potential tube upgrades (new Mullard EL34's maybe).
Any parts upgrade suggestions would be appreciated.
Thx,
Kenreau
I replaced the caps with the exact same values (they're written on the caps) ... .22s on the main board and .1 by the preamp tubes. The difference in sound was trememdous. Soooo much more detail.
I may end up doing that if I can't locate a schematic.I spoke with a guy that does mods and he stressed that a schematic was really necessary to fine tune things with the right parts values for caps and resistors (grid). He mentioned the mass manufacturers buy few parts values in massive quantities and may not use the ideal part value at the right locations. They compromise with something close(or not).
Are you considering any other parts upgrade, signal path wiring, rca or speaker posts?
