I emailed Usher for an Impedance chart and stats for me speaker so that I may best match a tube and ss amp. Based on the stats and chart in the link below could you all please give me a list of suitable tube and ss amps to go with that retails for less than $3000? New and older used amps. Help is greatly appreciated! :)系 統:2.5音路三單體.落地型

Follow Ups:
Pathos Classic One MK III Integrated Amplifier-Output power: 2 x 70W RMS @ 8 Ohm 2x130 @ 4 OhmSince my speakers are rated at 120watts at 4ohms this amp seems to match it. I wonder if I had an amp rated higher than 120watts if it would benefit with more dynamics.

Its not a tube amp but a hybrid. The Monarchy Audio SE250 monoblocks. THey go for $2500 a pair. Only two stages (1 tube 1 Mosfet), no feedback, and Class A for the first 50 watts or so.
The Usher CP-6371 is rated at 120watts at 4ohms with 89db sensitivity. I believe the monster amp you recommend is too powerful for those speakers. At least its over kill at worst i could blow up my speakers? I did supply a link of a screen shot that Usher sent me of the impedance chart.

Nonsense. The speaker will use exactly as much power as it needs to play at a particular volume. With 89 db sensitive speakers it means you will use very little of the power (typically no more than a few watts) but have plenty of dynamic headroom from the amp. You realize that just because an amp is rated to some power doesn't mean it is throwing that much power into the speakers all the time. How much power the amp is putting out depends on the voltage it gets in from the preamp. Most amps require between 1 and 2 volts to reach full output power. Under normal conditions your amps are putting only very few watts (or even milliwatts) into the speaker and only at high levels and/or big dynamic peaks do you get close to full power.
Ok, so the more power an amp has the better. Even thou my speakers are only rated at 120wps max I can go buy me a 300watt ss amp now and crank ACDC and Metallica! Thanks. My Current Rotel RB-985 5x100 doesnt crank enough.

of course, you can always blow out a speaker, but a good clear powerful amplifier like the monarchy will pose no danger to a pair of speakers, even if its RMS rating is above the rating of the speaker. What you want to watch out for is trying to power a 4 ohm pair of speakers with an amplifier that cannot handle 4 ohm loads very well, i.e., some HT receivers, SET or OTL amplifiers, etc.
A push-pull /ultralinear tube amplifier using EL 84s or KT88 as output tubes and rated for 4 ohms would be suitable, try Rogue or VTL or Audio Research. Or the hybrid Monarchy, or the all SS Monarchies.
Basically, it may be expensive to significantly upgrade the sound you are getting already.
Hell, first try one that you can get used for less than $400 and see if you're happy.
Examples (ss):
Parasound HCA 1000
Adcom GFA 5400tube:
short of Decware 5-watters, with which the Ushers probably won't even get started, I've only listened to Counterpoint hybrids (modified NPS 100 which does come in under your $3k but is no longer made) and they do a great job.
I have these speakers in my Rotel home theater system. That Rotel ss amp is getting old and I want to upgrade my amp to something on equal level that these speakers deserve. THe reason for my post is because I am worried about the stats of these speakers. 89db at 4ohms with a dip at 15k of 3.6ohms as you can see on that chart Usher sent me. I posted the link on my original thread.

These 100 watt per channel monoblocks are absolutely incredible. They're musical and do all the audiophile qualities such as soundstage, image very, very well. At $2999 new, it's one of the biggest bargains in hi-end. Customer service like you've never seen before with same day email answered as well as a THREE year warranty, you really get a lot for your money. Tubeaudiodesign.com, check it out.
Instead of hijacking this thread can you email me I have some questions for you. bullone11@earthlink.net Thanks
Mike
Great! Thanks for the pointer. I checked them out and yes. They do fit my speakers it seems. My chart shows that my speakers have a dip around 15k down to 3.6ohms. I guess this amp can handle that.
This amp looks to be a contender :)

I use mine on ML Clarity's with a dip to 1.2 ohms @ 20kHz with no problems at all. They are really great amps and Paul will negotiate the price with you. Great amps, great service, great pricing! What more can you ask for?
