but I want to keep it for MC carts if I ever need it. On ebay, they go for under $150 at times, can be as much as $250.
I have a customer that carted in a few older solid state preamps the other day. One of them was a PS Audio unit but I don't recall the model. I will be talking with him again over the weekend or Monday and I will ask. His is a fully functioning unit but may let it go fairy cheap. If you want to send me an email at Response34@aol.com, I will see what I can find out for you.
Hi all, if the external power supply in the PS Audio 4 is similar to the PS Audio SR-1 I'm working on, the only thing in that external box is the transformer. It would be worth a look at the IV's main PCB to see if the rectifiers, reservoir caps, and voltage regulator circuits are there. If so, it's a lot easier to find a suitable transformer and a case than track down an entire power supply.Good Luck,
thanks for your reply =only thing i know about thie psaudio is ,afriend of mine had it==he sadly died,i used to go over to his house and listen to it==it was part of his 2nd system==after he passed away,at 73 yrs his wife gave this to me,it didnt have the power supply ==when i called her she said she didnt know what it was,so she threw it out==worked fine up to his death==dont know much about technical terms=so what you so kindly tried to explain went way over my head==thank you for so kindly trying to help this old fart==doublel@mwt.net
