I would make sure power cord is detachable. It will give you later ability to experiment with power cords, and probably you'll be amazed at the difference they make.

Sometimes the voltage gets boosted, sometimes dropped. Then it gets stepped down to 120V through a transformer, then travels at least 50 feet to your circuit breaker, then 20 or 30 feet of Romex cable in your house then terminates at your outlet.
Your saying that the last 3 feet of amp power cord makes that big a difference? Amazing.

Jim,Yeah jim I TOTALLY agree with you and the power line also gets noise from neighbors electronics as well as your own, in addition to all you describe.
THat is why you need a good filter in those last 3 ft....to filter out all the crap you describe.
you need more or less resolving system, reasonable good pair of ears, and willingness to listen, instead of theoritize. If you have all the above, and still think power cords don't make any difference - you're lucky individual, since it saves you lot of money.
Good point. I would think that is where power conditioners come into play. I honestly have know idea how they work or if they make that big of a difference. But I read of people on here hearing noticeable changes in their equipment with different power cords and line conditioners and so on. I wonder how much of that is psychological.
Including from the wall to the power conditioner...and from the power conditioner to the equipment...on some gear more than others...but it is real...but as with anything not always beneficial or synergistic. It's much like speaker cable or ic's...tune to match your system and tastes.A cheap experiment: Do a search on 'Exito' on eBay...hospital grade power cord. You can pick one up for less than $10. Try it. See if it makes some kind of difference. Go from there.
