The Manley costs $2400, but has a lovely sounding triode mode. It is better made than the Cronus, too. But in the end it is less a pocketbook than a sound issue. The Cronus and Atlas are indeed very good sounding.
Follow Ups:
I owned the Stingray and now own the Cronus. I disagree that the Stingray is better built. In fact, I thought it was rather flimsy compared to the Cronus. I sold it after direct comparisons.Sonically, I much prefer the Cronus. Mine is wired in triode with KT77s. It has more drive and a much fuller presentation with better bass than the Stingray without the upper midrange glare of the Stingray (that no tube rolling could eliminate).
Each to his own, I guess!
You are starting to sound like that idiot Sordidman!!!You are going to be in need of some serious psychiatric help if you keep going at this rate!!!!

We probably aren't that far apart. I do like the Cronus/Atlas, but my ear prefers the Manley a bit more. The Manley may not be quite so solidly built, but it uses better parts, has more filtering and measures better.
I'm with you.....IMO, - barring a few other factors, most amps that use point to point wiring, - are amps that I consider "better build quality."
