I'm looking for sensitive monitor (95dB and up). I did audition Klipsch RB-5 but I'm afraid the speakers I auditioned were not fully break-in at the time, though the sensitivity is good enough for my Zen amp. I like the overall performance of the RB-5; dynamic, fast, good stage and enough bass for jazz and classical. Unlike my silverdale, however, I detected a slight hony sound especially in female voice but I can live with that.
Any inmate has experienced with Tannoy Pro line speakers with high sensitivity?
Have a look in SET, I posted there by mistake on the same subject. The figures look very promising for the 15DMT. They don't seem to be an easy speaker to track down tho. Fairly expensive too.
I'll be looking on with interest
I think Tannoy Professional monitors are excellent for home audio. I've not auditioned the System 1200, but have owned a pair of System 12 DMT for a year or so. I use a Meitner preamp and a Quad 606 power amp and other than a slight mismatch between pre and power am very happy with the overall sound. If the specs are anything to go on, the System 1200 has slightly more bass extension and a bit more sensitivity. When finances permit I'll be looking for a pair of System 12 DMT II or System 15 DMT II. I got mine used from a small studio who changed to self-powered Genelecs. If anyone's interested there's a pair of Tannoy AMS 12 on eBay -- these are Tannoy's active version of the System 1200 and I'd grab 'em if could.
