new direct-drive turntable, Brinkmann Bardo

Posted by caligari on April 20, 2010 at 12:00:09:

Has anyone had any experience with this new direct-drive turntable from Brinkman, the Bardo, which is derived from its more expense Oasis model. Has anyone even heard it at shows or festivals? I am curious about its sonics because it addresses some issues about direct-drive genre and I wonder what the sonic result or characteristic is compare to classic direct-drive models. It uses a coreless ironless motor with a very stout bearing that some marketing people like to term it as a "magnetic drive" system. I have always had good experience with coreless motor in classic models from JVC, Kenwood, Pioneer, Sony, Yamaha, etc... so I am curious about its sound in a modern design. Hey, it's good to see something new, even in new bottle.
