RE: Amazon LP shipping...

Posted by caffeinator on November 18, 2022 at 10:50:28:

I have ordered a lot of LP's from Amazon, and that is the predominant shipping configuration I've observed.

There are exceptions, though. I have, from time to time, received LP's in nothing more than a bubble mailer. Nearly 100% of these were promptly returned due to shipping damage.

I have also received some in just an LP mailer. A few of these have been returned due to damage.

Occasionally they'll put an LP inside a shipping box with no LP mailer. Results in this case are generally good, though some have been damaged by other items in the same box (sometimes other LP's in LP mailers) or because the shipping box was damaged.

It's hard to say whether they are converging to a standard or there is a standard (LP mailer inside shipping box) with some deviations.

Target, on the other hand, has been interesting to observe. I have found some good prices online at Target, and gave them a try. The first few shipments were not good - rookie mistakes, to be sure - and I returned the damaged LP's right to a retail Target location. However, in pretty short order, recent shipments have been in LP shipping containers on a par with Acoustic Sounds or Plaid Room.
