RE: TTW Audio- I never knew they opened the first time...........

Now I am only curious about how they left the industry, but it is pretty clear why they are back.
Apparently there are guys out there who will pay $200 bucks for a lathe turned and polished piece of bar-stock with one or two O rings included in the deal.
If the product is of as high quality as the photographs of the product, I think the guy is onto something.
What he is onto, I am not quite sure, because I never much liked the idea of adding weight to a bearing designed primarily to be low friction.
because that minuscule binding creates noise, one would think that adding weight , while it does alter the frequency spectrum , hopefully as intended, is counter productive to less friction and might increase noise and perhaps increase bearing wear. Almost like the automobile repair products in a can that help the problem today, like stopping a water leak, but clog the effective heat transfer, in time destroying system performance.
Consider a design that benefits from adding 24 oz. on the record surface, right by the spindle. Is it a cost limited design where they couldn't afford to add needed mass that would have improved the sound? If so, wouldn't a consumer do better with spending the additional money required for a weight into a table with a little more spent on the product that might not require additional investment. Perhaps finding a designer who realized his design goals more adeptly.
And the same goes for tables built to higher price points, if you have a need for additional aftermarket spindle weights, you have screwed up.
Of course, we are all adults here, we can say it, this is really just audio jewelry, nobody really needs it, for the reasons I pounded on above, but everyone wants to be special, and some have the ability to buy merchandise that makes their turntable look special, and sound better.
the wonderful thing is that , if one thinks a weight improves the sound, It does". Of course, that doesn't stop guys like me from kicking the carpet over in the corner of the room and muttering about yeah well what about bearing wear and the illusion of hearing, djaever think about that I would never ......, and then I wonder off to get some punch.
