Can an LP12 travel without total disassembly?

Posted by eduardoo on October 10, 2020 at 19:20:59:

I'll be shipping my stuff, including an LP12, across the Atlantic via a relocation service soon.
While I understand that it's best practice to have the LP12 completely disassembled for shipping, perhaps it'll be easier ( for space and reassembly) if I just have it partly disassembled and packed well.
I'm thinking of having the arm and platter and subplatter removed, then perhaps remove the springs and have the nuts screwed in all the way to the top ( if that's possible) to "lock" the subchassis, and put in some cardboard/foam shims between the plinth and the armboard/top plate to restrict its horizontal movement.

Then the whole thing would of course be carefully packed.

Does it sound like a good enough alternative to total disassembly?

Thanks.
