Dirty Vinyl: Regarding the use or non use of anti-skate. When evaluating which one is better, to remove a/s from the VPI arm, simply flip over the a/s device which leaves the fishing line slack. Don't listen for a tonal difference...there won't be any. Listen instead for soldity of images...is the solist (when appropriate) squarely centered with space around him/her. You might have to listen awhile, but when you know what you're listening for...its clear not to use a/s. I have heard it almost instantly in equipment that is the highest end, and even in budget equipment, though its much easier to hear in higher level stuff. Before evaluation, check your cartridge setup once again.
