Manufacturers

Hey Steve

Seems you had a long time relationship with Brinkman and unfortunately for whatever reason they've decided to go in another direction. My experience with manufacturers in these situations is to not burn bridges. If you've succesfully sold the product for a long time in faithful accordance to the dealer agreement and they decided that they want to part company, then that is an option they're allowed to exercise. Chances are they will come back to you after two bad back to back quarters and want to he all huggy-kissy again. At that time, you'll be in a position to recoup lost revenue. If their intent is to become your #1 table line again, then let them prove that by giving you great support, great market exclusivity, great pricing and great terms.

There are other lines that you should consider now. SME being a good replacement since, unlike Rega, the don't have an electronics and speaker line they'll want you to put on display along with a couple tables. What you want to do is focus on a company who only makes tables and accessories for those tables. If there is no local VPI dealer, then consider them.

As a fellow dealer, all I ask is that you don't prostitute whichever company you committ to and sell out of your territory. Our profession is at a crossroad where B&M dealers need exclusivity more than ever, and that is completely dependent upon the good faith of each dealer.
