they've known about this since the 50's but I don't agree with the word 'limit' like your hearing at 14k drops like a stone. I'm not an audiologist but I would think it diminishes swiftly after that. Mine is 16k left, 14kright.
I have dynamic woofers on my electrotats below 100hz and they are the only thing that needs a boost at low volumes, like in the morning when I play music at 60-65db. That's why they call them dynamic speakers with a need to be pushed to respond best
My ears are the most sensitive in the morning and relaxed STS. A sound that's loud to me in the morning becomes normal soon after as the day progresses. Vacuums are too loud period and I always have something to muffle the volume. My wife on the other hand uses one every morning and I run to the hills
So at low volumes I turn the bass up a bit, that's it
