This 'Spud' is no dud.

OK, DIY in the form of a kit, but still...

Doc Bottlehead's 6FJ7 based 'Spud' amp (S.E.X or Single Ended Experimenters kit) can be used as either a headphone amp or 2 Watt 8 Ohm Single Ended amp suitable for REALLY high sensitivity speakers.

Somehow I managed to cobble it together and it actually worked.

And how!

Driving my 106dB EdgarHorns where 2 Watts should be plenty it has all of the 'poop' the horns require in a 360 Sq. Ft. space.

Better my 300B amp? Certainly quieter!

'SET Magic'? Indeed!

No hurry to go back to the 300B.

And I can plug in a headphone and it just cuts off the speakers and drives the headphones.
