FWIW, I used Paypal to pay an Audiogon seller over a Dutch Transaction where 8 people were scammed $150 each by the same bogus seller of suposedly 8x Denon DL-160 cartridges.

Audiogon washed their hands
Paypal followed suit.

We all lost, and the bogus seller remained active on Audiogon.

So Paypal is not always a surefire way to pay, but I never went back to Audiogon ever, I just rely on the Ebay/Paypal combo for the occasional buy or sell.
