Paul McCartney, "Slidin'"

Posted by Luminator on July 21, 2021 at 08:08:44:

During the March 1993 Stereophile Show in San Francisco, you might have caught Paul McCartney's then-new song, "Hope Of Deliverance." At the time, I was a senior in college. When going out to eat, I and others my age still sat at the "kids' table." We were not yet parents, so WE were still "the kids."

Sigh, now the kids born in the early-2000s form the "kids' table," and are in the final stages of undergrad. But even they know that, late last year, Paul McCartney came out with a new album, McCartney III. He basically plays all of the instruments. "Find My Way" was the hit, and "Slidin'" is the new single. If you weren't paying attention, you probably would have assumed that McCartney wasn't going to write anything sounding like this. Many listeners initially don't recognize him, on "Slidin'." And a video showing surfers? No way!
