My bass traps are 2x4ft fiberglass 4, 6 or 8 inches thick. Room-facing surfaces have heavy craft paper. All wrapped in speaker cloth. They're in all four corners and some hanging across the ceiling/wall. The "pro" ones aren't that much better below 100Hz, if at all. It's very hard to bring down that 40Hz and nearly impossible to bring up a deep null like the 60Hz. This was a progressive effort over a couple year period as I rearranged the room. I took measurement with each incremental step so I knew they did something.

What I learned was, it was worth doing but in the end I still needed digital room correction. I first used an Antimode 8033 for the subs, then PEQ filters in JRiver .. finally Dirac Live did the complete job.
