Making decisions based on whether they play into politically motivated sound bites is the path to idiocracy

I don't want my politicians to make short-sighted or counter-productive decisions to appease an ignorant public hungry for red meat.

Members of the public can't be well versed in all policy. We depend on our politicians and their staff and advisors to consider decisions more deeply than just "all oil drilling is bad" vs. "drill baby drill", and then explain their decisions to their constituents.

We also depend on the media to help educate us on the factors that weigh into these decisions. The biggest problem we have in this country right now is that the most influential media figures are driven by political agendas who try to frame every policy in D vs. R terms. Consequently, the news that most people consume today is mostly noise, not signal. And that's largely our fault because it's what we choose to consume.

Regarding Biden, I think he's OK. Not great, but OK. My biggest gripe with him was Build Back Better, but that failed. I wish his communications skills were better, more like Reagan or Obama than GWB.
