Americans won't. It's small, cheap, practical. It doesn't have 6 inches of superfluous ground clearance or 800 extra pounds of road hugging weight.
A car like this would be perfect for my wife, who rarely drives any farther than five or ten miles from home.
BTW, the styling looks like the old Mazda 2 that failed here because it was cheap and practical.
