I could, but I don't want to.....
I leave the Minnesota winter for a Warm Climate. And $5 Grand a month is not a lot for this type of thing. And I usually have to rent about a year in advance to even get a place. I am competing with all of Canada and the Northern U.S. in doing this.
If my objective was just to visit an island, yes I could go there in our summer and probably get the same place for under $2 Grand a month. But then I'd be in Minneapolis right now, where the temperature did not get above zero last week. : -(
