Most unfortunate to hear this news. I saw him around 5 years ago when he was playing in a quartet (two-horn quintet minus piano) with Joshua Redman; focused on music of Joshua's late father Dewey Redman.
I am a harmonic-language addict; so I was not expecting to like much what I heard. But the blending of notes between Ron Miles and Joshua Redman opened my ears to a new harmonic language that was interesting and ethereal.
RON MILES, Rest Now...and thank you for all your legacy.
