As a VAC 30/30 owner, I've been pondering this question as well. I cannot find anyone anywhere who has tried VAC REN/Horn combo, and I would love to know! As far as high-efficiency speakers, I currently use a custom prototype box speaker with 92 dB efficiency, biamping the bass with solid-state. Basically, 92 dB is Plenty for the little VAC 30/30, as I have NOT been able to clip the amp yet. By the way, my new TG HSR-i squared power cord is showing me the true wonders of the 30/30 (after a LONG break-in)and might I suggest you try it on your VAC when you get around to it. You won't regret it.
