Electrovoice SP15 in open baffle

Here is my last DIY project based on a 2 way design with EV SP15 -not the SP15A- and a coaxially mounted LPG neodium aluminium tweeter.
I did bypass the ''brillance'' circuit out of the SP15.
I use the SP15 up to 1,8KHz at 1st order LP filter 6 dB/oct. and spread the tweeter with a HP filter alson with 6dB/oct. at 4KHz.
Theses where obtain after listenning tests. Voicing was clearly showing that the SP15 whizzer makes an excellent mid response.
Tweeter itself as a 1850Hz resonnace, so i had to use it at least an octave above, it proved to be be right at listening.
Since the EV SP15 as a QTS=0.45, i added a serie resistor to electrically increse the QT around 0.6 that also helped to match efficiencies bethween SP15 and LPG 26N tweeter.
A french web site by dominique petoin helped a lot.
Very dynamic and great details shows, i could listen to for hours.
I have 4 pairs of speakers with 2 differents tube amps, so i have a lot to compare to.
I took the idea of cyclop tweeter mounting from old Jensen hifi speakers.
It prooves that there's not much new under the sun with excellent designs from the 50-60's quality components.
enjoy!
