RE: Benchmark DAC2D shutting off inexplicably. Anyone else have similar experiences?

Posted by flood2 on July 17, 2020 at 01:16:01:

The Benchmark DAC is autonomous so it shouldn't matter if the computer goes to sleep, the DAC should remain "on". It may not be a dry joint - the fact that it turns off in the middle of a listening session suggests a possibly failing capacitor on one of the power supply rails. I have a DAC1HGC and they tend to run quite hot so that will affect service life of "perishable" components like electrolytic capacitors.
Contact Benchmark directly - they will service it or perhaps offer a trade-in deal for a DAC3.
