So effing what? It's true though the average audiophile has a mediocre system - that's what average and mediocre means. And yes some, if not most, audiophiles want others to appreciate their purchase, and I think that is human nature.

But the same thing is true about folks who spent lots of money, greater than $100 grand or more, most of them have mediocre system too. Which means the more distinguished systems from the lower price ranges can be better.

So for me it's actually sad that folks spend lots of money on a system and think somehow that establishes them a higher degree of credibility or knowledge.

There is no guarantee that spending more money is going to get you a better system and in fact I think (actually I know) it's easier to get less than you pay for when spending more money.
