RE: CD Player and Ripper - Ideas Please

Posted by cawson@onetel.com on March 2, 2017 at 05:36:20:

Thanks Jeff

I want to reduce my box count, so I need a single box to replace the ML CDP (only occasionally used and solely as a transport) and my ailing RipNAS.

I don't think Cocktail or Lumin offer a ripper that includes real time CD player facility.

My CDP is excellent (not yet sold) but as I only use it occasionally and only as a transport, it should be worth more to someone else more than to me.

The RipNAS is an excellent bit of kit but the hard drives are almost full and the CD reader is playing up. It takes several attempts to coax it into accepting a disc. So far, it's always been persuaded but it needs a new reader.

Budget is anything significantly less than a NAD M50.2 (about £3800), but whatever I get needs to be excellent at playing CDs real time and ripping with all the accuracy and metadata collection - comparably with the RipNAS. And it needs at least 2 x 1TB of storage, preferably 2 x 2TB. No need for DAC, but output preferably via AES. Easy, but difficult to find!
