Opera Critic to Olivia Rodrigo: "Nice job, Kid!"

I have written opera criticism, btw.

If people would like to suit up, strap on their SCUBA tanks, and do a deep dive into "drivers license," as viewed through the lenses of material culture and technology, sociology, popular art and media, and finally, high culture, please click over to Hagerty Media and read "Olivia Rodrigo and 'drivers license': Pondering a Cultural Phenomenon."

The photo above is of one of my mentors, Herb Belkin, with the band Genesis, circa 1974. Herb's relevance becomes more apparent in the story.

That said, I think that for "drivers license" Ms. Rodrigo was consciously or unconsciously using "Don't Stop Believin' " as a template.

But hers is no more a rock song, than was "He's Not Heavy; He's My Brother."
