These are some comments on the previous model of the Sequerra Met 7. The reason I'm writing is that my experiences with Sequerra, the product as well as the man, is very relevent to any prospective purchaser. I bought the Met 7s about 4-5 years ago, the ones with the 5 1/4 inch cabon woofer, same tweeter. I was a very happy camper. All the comments made by Tom Gillete nee Sam Tellig in Stereophile apply. These are accurate speakers, not warm, not cold, they simply reflect your upstream components. About 2 years ago I moved the listening room and started listening far field, as opposed to my previous nearfield arrangement, and wished to add a sub. In listening, I noticed that when I adjusted the tweeter level upwards (a great feature!) to compensate for the new very absorbent room, 17X36X13, the range of 2-3.5k was about 3db too high. I called Richard Sequerra to ask him what I could do. Its rather intimidating to talk to a real Legend. His response was - "Send them back to me, I know just what you need, a latter revision would be to your liking". How much, says I. "Gratis", says he. Upon their return, Indeed the revision was much to my liking, allowing me to listen far field with a sub. I have enjoyed the Mets tremendously in their new environment. Flash forward to two weeks ago. Dumbass decides to muck about with the cables with the system live. A great howl issues forth. Shut down (eventually), check everything out, and try again. No tweet from one. Muck about with the tweeter level adjustment and find I have blown the level control potentiometer(not only a level control, but a fuse!) Calling Mr. Sequerra yet again, he asks how handy am I with a soldering iron. Very, replies I. He sends me a new level control, again gratis. I get the pot, open the speaker and curse myself for being so confidant. Them speakers is narrow and deep. My hands is pudgy. Again I call, "What hex diameter do I need to remove the crossover board so I don't have to attempt the replacemat 'in situi'?" "Send em back", says he. "No charge, and send both speakers." "Why?", says I, "I only blowed up the one." "Might as well check out the other one, while I'm at it."
I love these speakers. I assume from my experiences with Mr. Sequerra, the new model is even better. If you have concerns with not having dealer support, just ask yourself, "How many dealers give this level of support?"
