The PC-2 is Phase technology's largest "monitor" in their PC line. It is a 2 way, ported design with a soft dome tweeter and flat piston mid/bass driver. You can bi-wire or amp these speakers.
These suckers are solid! They have some of the most inert cabinets I've ever felt, certainly more solid than the KEFs I replaced... One interesting feature of these speakers is the movable tweeter. You can aim the tweeter slightly in any direction... I've seen this come in handy for some installations, but if you're the obsessive type, it could drive you insane...(Did I really put the tweeter back at the normal position? Sure they image well now, but if I moved them slightly...)
The sound is very detailed and neutral...they seem to take on whatever personality the electronics have. The imaging is exceptional, and you seem to have a very good soundstage from a wide range of listening positions. I found that they had the most musical reproduction with my Jolida (can't remember which one it is, but it has the 6BQ5 outputs), but the best detail with my venerable NAD 2030 (or 3020 or whatever...). The amount of bass is surprising, seeming to go down to an honest 45hz before petering out.
One thing that most people don't know about Phase Tech speakers is that they are *very* easy to drive. I had power galore with my 15 wpc Jolida, and given these speakers chamealon-like qualities, should sound glorious with a 300b single-ended job...
I used to sell Phase Techs, and I was always annoyed by a weird coloration they had in the midrange (as compared to some KEF reference speakers or some Spendor BC1s). I owned the Phase Tech 10.5s and they had many nice qualities, but still had the coloration, so they had to go... This generation of Phase Techs seem to have gotten rid of that problem, they are neutral neutral neutral.I also like the PC-3 speakers, they are more sensitive and go lower, but have essentially the same sound...
