for the Ah Havens!

I purchased these kits second hand from Audiogon a little over a year ago and set about buchering a bunch of wood and building my first pair of speakers. Had a local discount kitchen countertop maker do an excellant job covering then in one of the new satin finish grain formica's to a very pleasing result. I have been refining the crossovers for over a year. I left the basic design alone mainly trying different brand capacitors and hit on combo both somewhat resonable in price and with performance far far exceeding in sonic realism. In the Enjoy the Music review Dick Olsher indicates that this speaker has a fullness to the lower mids that is quite attractive. I would like to say that this is not only a good observation but the single most endearing quality for long term listening. Finding the proper capacitor mix to keep this intact but still bring out inner detail and sense of recording space proved a chalange. J Gordon Hold said somewhere in the early 70's that listening to a speaker that had a flat frequency response would prove less than ideal in the long run. No truer statement in audio has ever been uttered. How many system have been bought on sold.
Building these have been the most rewarding thing I have done in over 45 years of listening to and selling hi-fi.
I have onned systems that have had more money invested in cable than I have in total now. I have great gear to go with these but not silly stupid.
I have never had a more rewarding speaker or system. I thought I would make these for sale but I am a very slow perfectionist and cannot nearly charge enough to equal my time and effort.

Product Weakness: lacks bottom octave
Product Strengths: no compression of midrange dynamics, operatic soprano's will take on tremendous presence without getting harsh
