What's hornier than auditioning horns? How about auditioning huge horns in Northern Asia?

Listening to Jennifer Warnes through this large, lovely and exotic horn speaker system from Taiwan, I can only describe the experience as "jaw-dropping". The elements of make-believe of a live performance are all there: full dynamic range and contrasts, weight, harmonics, tonal balance. Well, that's given a big amp... the irony is, this horn speaker is NOT a high-efficiency design at 88dB/w/m. Surprised? I sure was. I was told by the Taiwanese sales staff that the horn loading has nothing to do with efficiency but more with dispersion pattern.

Is it one of the best I've heard? Sure is. At more than 50 grand, it better be. I consider myself lucky to have heard these rare audiophile gems. I also enjoyed talking to the friendly Taiwanese sales staff.
