Hello everyone !

This is a review of my brand new Xindak SCD-2 that came to me directly from Hong Kong via Coemaudio.com. to Paris, France.

I had for a previous cd player a nice Rotel RCD971 with lots of mods on the analog output and it was very pleasant BUT : the call of SACD soft was there so ….

I thank all the people of this forum who shared their experiences so I could choose to get a Xindak without listening it at first.

The gear is quite heavy and looks good in silver and gold dress. Foots are huge and I didn’t used the pikes that I used with the Rotel.

I have read that it needed some hours to come at the right heat but with my 220v I say maybe 20 mn are enough! That stuff is hot, thanks to the valves !? The first times it was like looking at Japanese flowers : the sound was better and better as the CDs succeded in the tray !

At first, as it is my first valve gear I was suspicious with the bass : nop ! it is tight and powerful. The mids are rich and highs very beautiful.

There is no problem with skidding or skipping! I once had to restart a CD because of a hair beard!

I use lots of CDR and everything is OK too.

The only SACD I have is the demo one from Naxos catalogue. The sounds turn from very good to incredibly airy and fine. The dynamics seem to turn flat when you switch back on CD mode! In fact it is the A vs B psychoacoustic effect. In CD mode dynamic is still very good with the upsampling 24/96 convertion !

I could compare it with a moded Sony 770 SACD player and it bashed the Sony in both modes.

I recommend that stuff very much. I have to say that mine is a moded one : Norman from Coemaudio made it run with Mundorf silver / oil caps. And it works!
