for the Synergy Twin 30
I recently purchased the Synergy Twin 30 for my 2-channel system. I picked out the cherry version, with perforated steel side panels and doors. The unit requires pretty extensive assembly - I'm not particularly handy and it took me about three hours or so to put it together. I've had a number of "assemble it yourself" furniture items in the past, and I can safely say that this unit was constructed in a manner that exceeded pretty much anything else I've come across. Everything fit together perfectly and it's designed to allow for adjustments as needed. The unit has two sides (hence the "twin" designation) with two adjustable racks on each side. The top and bottoms of the units are a sold wood slab and are pretty heavy. You can select a variety of side panels and door styles including your basic fake wood sides and frosted glass doors. I personally liked the looks of the perforated steel, and sense that it will do the job as far as heat dissipation goes. The top of the unit is sturdy enough to support a fairly heavy TV, which didn't matter to me. The shelves are black and made of some composite material - again, very sturdy.
As mentioned above, the fit and finish of this unit are what you would expect and hope for in a thousand dollar piece of furniture. It is a beautiful piece and, while it takes time to assemble, fits together like a charm. My wife is thrilled with it - in fact, it was the one piece of "gear" that she insisted we purchase.
Product Weakness: Don't know how you would make use of the back panels - unless you had no ICs or speaker cables attached to your gear. Product Strengths: Looks great, incredibly sturdy, good heat dissipation with the perforated steel sides and doors.
