for the Pre 2L
I have had my Anthem Pre2L for about 3 years...I would say it is a very good Preamp and really does well when the chassis is damped as the metal is very microphonic...damping the circuit board is a must as well. Sonic improvements will be gained. Also dump the Soveteks and go for some Mullards or even JANPhilips great punch and bass. As is, it sounds great, its fast, clear and can deliver the goods. Volume pot stinks, but if you can get one on the used market grab it. You wont regret it. If you go for mod'ing it, go for the new caps, wire and damping. Then you will be in sonic heaven.
Product Weakness: volume pot, steel [highly microphonic] chassis....bad for tubes. Product Strengths: Good all around tubed pre amp, easily modified for big emprovements in sound.
