With this preamp my records sound as good as they've ever sounded. Preamps that I've compared it to are the Krell KSL/KPE and the Audio Note Preamp Kit. The Krell was very good. I sold it because I changed speakers and no longer needed the strength of the Krell power amp that I used it with. The KTA has the same subtleness of detail (as the Krell) that constantly catches me by suprise and that makes for fascinating listening. With the KTA the detail in the background gives a pleasing sense of rhythm and continuity. Also the good sounding records sound really good while the bad sounding records don't sound so bad.
