for the XV

I have owned this amp for about 8 years now and all It has been great. I have heard alot of other integrateds that cost more but I still coming back to my XV. It just has a natrual sound that most pther amps struggle to provide. The pace and timing are great with this amp and it works great for rock music. This amp is alot like Naim but it has a warmer sound and bigger soundstage. i use the amp with Klipsch Rf-3 speaker sand listen to rock music. The 40 watt sounds much more powerful than 40 watts should and I think its because this is a fully regulated design. The dynamics and bass are great. This amp may not have the best bass or the sweetestmid range or most detailed high end but what it does best is play music. While audiophiles may not be impressed i garuntee if you love music you will like this amp. I would not trade this amp for anything unless I needed more power than I would trade it for the dual mono 18 which are 70 watts. So if you can find one of these under $500 on the used market go for it!! Especially if you like the "British" sound. Forgot to mention that it has a great phono stage for such an inexpensive amp.

Product Weakness: only 40 watts, not great with difficult loads, not the most detailed. picky about speaker cables
Product Strengths: PRAT, Dynamics, Warm tube like sound, good all around amp, seems more powerful than 40watts, extremely musical, great phon stage
