for the Destiny

Funny how, as I've been reviewing the Creek Destiny integrated amp [there's also a Destiny CD player, which I have not heard], the Peanut Gallery "chides" me for not showing the Cable Cooker. Not to worry, the Cooker will appear very shortly :-)

But some of you have asked good questions. The first involves the Destiny's phono boards. No, my friends and I have not auditioned the phono boards.

The second involves the headphone jack. As of this writing, I have done rudimentary listening via AKG K701 headphones, but not enough to draw any conclusions. I will have to do a xanga follow-up in the future, perhaps later this summer.

The third involves comparisons with other integrated amps. Part 15 pits the Destiny against the BAT VK-300x SE and Simaudio I-7. But as a couple of you pointed out, I also have the Jeff Rowland Continuum 250 with and without the PC-1. The Continuum has unrivaled volume control. In a small room, the volume is usually around the 40.0 mark. The Continuum has a smooth and refined personality, which is quite different from the Destiny's bumpier, more rhythmic and rockin' sound.

The fourth involves after-market powercords. In the review, I only showed the Pranawire Maha Samadhi, which costs more than the Destiny itself. No, the Destiny does not need expensive powercords. It just needs carefully-chosen ones. Several of my audio buddies were more than satisfied with Kimber's PowerKord 14 (Gold or Ag).

The fifth involves xanga. Yes, you can post a comment. You do not have to be a xanga member to do so.

The sixth involves girls. I always get a handful of (male) audiophiles begging me to tell more stories and reveal more details about the females. Hmmm, the Creek Destiny doesn't strike me as being analogous to anyone I know. I'm not going to make things up, so I'll pass on the similes.

For the rest of you, please click on the following links, preferably in that order. You'll be treated to a trip to San Francisco, with even a side trek to Hawaii. You'll refresh your knowledge of popular music. And you'll get to know the intricate details of the Creek Destiny. Okay, so that's not the same as getting the intricate details on some sexy woman, but still...

Product Weakness: volume control typically stays below 9:00; jacks are tightly spaced; runs warm (but not hot); logo is no longer green!
