for the HD 500 Fusion

bought my HD500's from a local store(brisbane, australia) about 2 months back. This review focuses on the use of HD500's in a PC environment.

bought mine for around A$200.

I live in a college dorm, so its a little 10x15 room. I play music and games all on my PC. I noticed that the HD500's produce a somewhat muffled sound(no matter what the source), and weak midrange, which is so obvious if you're used to hi-quality 5.1 speakers, but after a while you get sorta used to it. Also, I tend to like heavy bass sometimes(for games, and some mp3's), and the HD500, while being adequate, does not have a earth shattering effect, otherwise its perfectly acceptable in general use. I also noticed that the headphone, even on the loudest setting, was not loud enough for me(Maybe I'm weird, or just like loud music,)i think my onboard sound wasn't giving it enough juice. I'm considering getting a headphone amp. for this thing.

So there you have it. Overall, its a good product. very comfortable - you could wear it for hours on end. If you want a can for gaming, then this is it. Maybe you'd need the amp. too. BUT if you want crystal clear audio and DEEP bass, then this is just not IT. Maybe you'd look for the 570's(which I've heard have good separation and clarity)

Product Weakness: muffled sound - lacks clarity
no amp. bundled
not loud enough on a PC
Product Strengths: decent sound
decent price
good for gaming
very comfortable
