I must first state that unlike many people reviewing I have very little technical knowledge of products or the reason for their sound. I am however perhaps unlike many people reveiwing a musician with a desire for a realistic sound. I can understand if detail is present, if tempo is good, if dynamic range is impressive, if instuments sound as they should.I had a DAC4 sig which I found gave a very musical sound off cd's. I was curious as to the upgrade potential as I knew many AN products are built with this in mind.
I heard a DAC3 with transformers easily match or beat a DAC5 without. I heard a 4sig with 1x sampling - very good! I had mine upgraded with both.
Many upgrades make a difference with an educated ear listening. These upgrades made a HUGH difference with out any education. Every aspect of the sound was improved, the tingle factor normally about only with live performances invaded my room. It has caused a problem, due to the sound I can only really listen with my eyes shut! What the eyes see when looking at my hifi is as such odds with what my ears are getting that I find it extremely difficult to understand.
IT IS VERY GOOD!!
