for the Bob Crump DIY
This is a review Red Cobra Cables entry level Power Cord which
I have tried as a replacement for the stock Power Cords for the Panasonic
SA-XR 45 Digital Amp (NGR Adaptor from RC Cables also) and a ST0202 B&K
Amp.First the cable was designed properly using P&G 266X IEC Plug and Schurter 4003.0603.The sleeveing was styled Black with a red line which was different then what I had seen before, for those looking for attractive cable.
Jason stated that he follows the BC (Bob Crump) design for the materials, no mods to the wires, Cardas Quadeutectic solder and cleaned all conductive surfaces in the IEC and the P&S plug first with Caig DeoxIT and then with Caig ProGold. Thick coating of Q-Dope over the bare copper in the IEC to protect from corrosion.
Other Cables tried were stock cables provided from the manufactures, a American Cable(comparable to Carol cable) and the RC Cable.
First the Panasonic unit:
The Redcobra cable had an extreme difference when changing with this unit. Bass, throught the midrange greatly improved and high freq. detail was better than the Panasonic cable. The sterile sound was gone. Against the other entry level cables the seperation of Instraments and Bass were better.Using the B&K Amp:
Things were more focus and Bass Definition were clearly better. The added Air around instruments is there also.In the final analysis it would be a real step up for those going from the stock cords to a custom made cord for a small price. Customer service is A+ and delivery was 2days. Great cable for an entry level price.
Hard to get to excited for PC's,but changing the PC with the Panny unit is a night and day thing.
For an econo PC it is hard to beat the RedCobraCable for those wanting a better cord and do not want to spend alot of $$.At the same time they can get the adaptor for more savings rather than buy the same product at exuberant prices. Of what I understand the Adaptors are primarily the same no matter where you get it from with a few exceptions.
4.ft is $61.95 which is hard to beat for exceptional performance for those wanting to stepup from stock PC’s.After having the Panny unit it is essential to use along with the adaptor which you can save $$ on by getting it through Red Cobra. With the savings you get by getting the adaptor for you are essentially only paying $40 by getting the BC designed Power Cord.
Cratsmmanship and styling are excellent and better yet it improves the sound of your system for a fair price.
Nice work Red Cobra!
