for the DH Labs Power plus AC cable

There are many who believe power cables make a big difference to the sound of thier audio equipment. There are many more who believe that is nonsense. They scoff at the idea of spending one, two, three hundred on a cable. Even fifty is too much for them. They just don't believe it's possible, that power is power etc.

Well I am a believer in good power. And good power comes (in part) from good power cables. I have bought a few power cables in the last year or so. Also one DIY. This review is for the Hi Def Audio DH Labs Power Plus AC cable.

My first aftermarket power cable was the DIY TNT Twisted Snake. This cable did impress me. It made a big difference and is still the most open sounding cord I have heard. But it costs as much or more to DIY than other cords you can buy already made. It also has a bit of an edge to the sound. But still better than a cheap stock cable.

Then I tried some of the more euphonic sounding cables that were resonably priced. I tried the Signal Cable Majic power, VH Audio Flavor 3 and Flavor 4. I found the Majic and flavor 4 very similar. They are both big heavy duty cords good for power amps. I thought the flavor 4 sounded a little better. But the the Flavor 4 is three to four times the price of the Majic. Really the only difference is each chord accents a different frequency in the mid to upper treble. You should try both to find the right synergy. For the money the Signal gets the best bang for buck award by far. The flavor 3 is a much smaller cord. It has a colored euphonic sound IMO. I had good synergy with my AI pre amp and Woo headpone amp.

The Hi Def Audio DH Labls Power Plus is a differen't kind of cord. This cord is more about clean power with no coloration at a very good price. The four foot version had been on sale for awhile for about sixty dollars. I tried this cord on my Modified AI Modulus 2d pre amp and found it worked really well when I wanted transperancy over euphonics. I also tried it on my Marshall TSL 122 guitar amp and was really suprised at how it cleaned up the sound. This is a must have for guitar players. I never tried this cord on my ARC D-76a because I needed a longer cord. But I recently got an Outlaw 755 power amp for my home theatre. I needed a six foot cord with a 20 amp IEC and 15 male. I ordered one from Hi Def Audio. While there was a delay because they had to order the 20 amp IEC, I was very happy when it finally arrived. This cord did a great job of cleaning up the solid state edge. The noise floor dropped way down. This cord along with some DH-Labs BL AG all silver interconnects, makes my home theatre sound much more expensive than it is. For the money I think this cord is a bargain. It definetly gets my best bang for buck award.
