After hearing a friend's AP Oval 12s and liking them a lot, I picked up a used pair of Ovel 9s for $179. Unlike a few of the reviews I found these cables to be excellent.
In my system, the bass is very strong yet well defined. The highs are also well defined but musical with no hint of grain or brightness. It is the imaging and soundstage where they really shine however.
I am struck by the expanse and depth in my small listening room these cables present. On Sarah McLachlan's "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy" the imaging was just super. Loreena McKennit's "Parallel Dream" was a real treat though with super wide musical expanse that was also extremely detailed.
The cables worked well with my EAR pre amp and Plinius SA-102 amp and caused absolutely no problem.
I would highly recommend these inexpensive cables to anyone building a budget system.

Product Weakness: A tiny bit of veiling in the midrange but nothing that really gets in the way.
Product Strengths: Wide soundstage, very good imaging, resolution and detail.
