for the S500

- I had the S500i version
- Very well built player, gorgeous look, RCA and XLR connections, aluminum case, fast and quiet transport (Philips VAM1250), CS4390 DAC (bitstream).
- Sound was very disapponting: bass were ok but not great, the mid-highs were average in terms of detail and smoothness, the soundstage was confused. Sounds barely better than the best '$500' players.

Product Weakness: Average sound
Product Strengths: Look, built quality, XLR outputs
