The cd6 is a great cd player no question. My current set up is a NAD314 amp and B&W 602s2 speakers.

After a year of trouble free operation (and great sound)my cd6 began to distort the music for every now and then for a second or so. It was as though there was a cable loose. The warranty had expired so I decided to give it a go in fixing the problem myself. I initially concluded the the digital signal feed cable from the laser was loose on the transport controller pcb...so i soldered it on..yes solder. Anyway the cd6 was ok for a few days then the problem came back.. It could not be a loose cable.

It was in fact a misaligned laser...slightly adjust the two pots on the transport pcb closest to the trasport while a cd is playing ...problem solved.
