What can you say about a warm sounding CD player? You can make unhumorous facetious comments like: "This player's warmth chased away my winter chills" or "The warmth this player oozed reminded me of the taste of warmed Hazelnut liqueur" or "The warmth presented by this player instantly reminded me of my female acquaintances during my Catholic School days" or "I opened the cover of this warm-sounding CD player and I was baffled with the fact that there are no tubes contained within." You can probably figure out that the first thing I noticed about this player is the warm sonic qualities. Enough said about that.

Timbre is not lost in warmth. The fretting and string scrapes of acoustical guitar are quite vivid and natural. Cymbals sound like cymbals rather than decaying white noise. Crunchy heavy metal guitars are crunchy without crunching your ears with harshness-----Oh boy, was that a cliché?

Vocals are refined except for sounding a little more recessed when compared to the musical instrument presentation. If you tire of in-your-face vocals then the CAL DX-2 may be worth a listen.
