I would continue to maintain that this is an excellent preamp for the money but contrary to certain claims it is not the best preamp or phono stage out there. Not by a long shot.
It is however a 'best buy' which is strangely at odds with the rest of the CAT line.

Product Weakness: like the CAT amps it is very clear and clean sounding but ultimately lacks the midrange magic that exisits in certain other products
Product Strengths: good perfromance and features for the price
